The Telluride Region

The Town of Telluride: Colorful, Historic, Unique

Nestled in a box canyon surrounded by the 13,000-foot peaks of the San Juan Mountains, the Town of Telluride is just six blocks wide and twelve blocks long. Due to its significant role in the history of the American West, the core area of Telluride was designated a National Historic Landmark District in 1964. This listing is the highest level of historic status available to sites designated by the United States Secretary of the Interior. Telluride is one of only four other Colorado communities with this honor. These sites are so special that, in theory, they are eligible for consideration as National Parks. With its colorful Victorian-era homes, clapboard storefronts, boutiques, art galleries, gourmet restaurants, historic buildings and much more, Telluride is a delight to explore. The town offers many fine choices in accommodations that can cater to any style or taste.

Mountain Village: Contemporary Elegance

The Town of Mountain Village, Colorado, is located on the Telluride Ski Mountain in the Uncompahgre National Forest at an elevation of 9,500 feet. A vision of alpine elegance, this European-style village tempts guests with the best of everything in the Telluride region. Mountain Village sits high above the historic Town of Telluride and encompasses approximately 2,100 acres of rolling aspen and spruce covered mountainside.

Mountain Village entices guests with its luxury hotels and condos, stylish boutiques, innovative dining, world-class Golden Door Spa, championship golf course, and the state of the art Telluride Conference Center. Mountain Village complements the charm of Telluride.

Linked by a Scenic Gondola

The towns of Telluride and Mountain Village are linked by a spectacular 13-minute ride on the free gondola. This popular scenic attraction serves as public transportation while providing free access to hiking and biking trails. Both the town and Mountain Village sit at the edge of the slopes and lifts.
