The Petite Musique program will feature a narrator and a 16+ member orchestra – including woodwinds, strings, percussion, brass and conductor – depicting a story with connections to Colorado and Western history and culture. The performance will feature several key components, providing students with a broad cultural and educational experience:

Introducing students to the instrument families
Performing a musical/dramatic treatment of a western-themed story, featuring a re-orchestration of Copland’s Rodeo and additional musical tie-ins to Colorado and Western history and culture.
Involving the audience with a sing-along and dance-along featuring traditional Western folk dances and cowboy songs used by Copland in Rodeo and Billy the Kid.

All music has been written and/or arranged by CSO cellist David Mullikin.
